Intel to launch new logos April 1st
Posted by The Right Guy in Uncategorized on March 28th, 2009

What a date
It turns out that Intel plans to launch its new logos on April 1st and we don’t need to remind you that this is internationally April fool’s day. Someone at Intel’s marketing really didn’t think this through, as most of the people won’t believe that logos are real at least until late week 14 or should we say a few days after April 1st.
We don’t like the format of logos but refresh is always a nice thing and after a while we will get use to it. Not that we have any choice, it is as democratic as Facebook changes that everyone hates so much.
We still remember a bold move of Eric B. Kim, ex-Samsung boy who as a VP of Intel’s marketing changed the sacred Intel inside logo to something more appropriate for the new millenium and eventually it did work out well.
Canadians should not sign phone contracts

A telecommunications report has warned Canadians that they should not sign any wireless contract.
The report, from telecom consultancy SeaBoard Group, said that “Friends should not let friends sign wireless contracts” and that anyone who does will really regret it. The report said that Canadians should wait for another year for new entrants to join Canada’s wireless market before signing any new mobile contracts. Many of the outfits that won spectrum from last year’s auction of wireless airwaves have yet to announce launch dates and pricing plans.
When they do it will bring more competition and lead to better value for consumers. The Canadian mobile market is legendary for being over priced and as user friendly as a Great White Shark with a personality disorder. Rodgers was so nasty to users when it scored Apple’s iPhone that even the great Fruit themed Messiah Steve Jobs thought they were being a bit nasty to consumers. Apple was reported to have redirected phones from Canada to Europe because it did not want to suffer too much bad publicity when people looked in detail at their restrictive and expensive Rogers contracts.
Two of the new carriers: Public Mobile and Globalive Communications have publicly said they will launch discount brands with unlimited talk-and-text for $40 a month. Toronto-based Globalive has said it plans to launch two brands, a discount phone under the Yak brand with a price target of $40 a month. These are similar to plans offered by Fido, Solo and Koodo which are run by Rogers Communications , Bell Canada and Telus. The difference is that they are full unlimited services that include ‘everything’ on the menu, while the older telcos have contracts that charge you for every cough and spit.
Install VMware Server 2.0 in Ubuntu Server 8.10

Many of my friends asked me how to install vmware on linux using the command line so here it is
1. Introduction
Finding reliable information about turning an Ubuntu Server installation into a Virtualization Server is not an easy task, and if you – like me – are going for a command-line only server, you will find this guide extremely useful.
VMWare Server 2 is a very good, free alternative to virtualization from VMWare – a company that has always been a leading provider in the virtualization arena. VMWare Server 2 requires a license number for installation, but this license can be freely obtained after registering at the VMWare page.
This product offers a solution that allows, among other things, the creation of headless servers. These are completely administrable via a browser, including creating virtual machines, powering up or down, and even command-line access.
Please note that while this article is aimed at a clean Ubuntu Server installation, most of the information contained within can be used on any modern distribution, whether command-line only or GUI. Read the rest of this entry »
94% of users hate the new Facebook
Posted by The Right Guy in Uncategorized on March 22nd, 2009
Facebook is asking its users what they think about its new layout, and things aren’t looking good for the social networking site.
Out of 800,000 users who took part in the poll, 94 percent said they hated it. This is the kind of landslide majority Kim Jong Il and Sadam Hussein got when they asked their party members what they thought of them, only the other way around, of course.
Users also used the poll to post their comments, which were quite bitter and hateful.
In case you want to take part in the poll, you can find it here.
