The Weirdest Snacks…
Posted by The_Right_User in Uncategorized on August 13th, 2010
As hard as it is to admit, I confess: when I was a child, I used to eat paper. Not the most delicious snack, I agree. Most of the time I used to dip it in cranberry juice to make it less dry and more, well, eatable. Even though I no longer engage in this sort of behaviour, I do eat weird snacks from time to time. In the following article, dear readers, I will share my best recipes with you.
The first dish on our menu today is a classic; I have been eating it for years. I call it: Crème glacée au beurre d’arachide. Now, don’t let the fancy French name discourage you. Although it is one of the most complex dishes I am capable of making (and the hardest one on the list), most readers should be able to make it without too many problems. Step 1: put ice-cream into a bowl. Step 2: smear a thick layer of peanut butter on top of the ice-cream and, voilà, a masterpiece has been created!
If that last one was too difficult for you, don’t worry, you can always eat frozen blueberries. I discovered this delicacy recently for lack of a better choice in the fridge and by sheer laziness- who wants to wait until the blueberries unfreeze? Dried fruit is so last year; the future is frozen fruit! Seriously, frozen blueberries make a really great snack; I went through three little plastic containers in one sitting! I don’t know whether they have the same nutritional value as unfrozen ones though…
Last, but not least, is Brie à la Pringles. This is the one you should make to impress your hot date. You take a thin slice of Brie cheese (yum, my favourite!), but instead of spreading it on a piece of baguette bread, you place it on a Pringle. It tastes good, and you can impress your date by showing him/her how innovative you can be in the kitchen. Remember, fine cheese shows a certain degree of sophistication. A word of caution, however: don’t eat too much for you might cut the cheese (pun intended). There you have it, those are my weirdest snacks. Please share your weird eating habits by commenting on this post. Bon appétit, mes amis!
Procrastination is my worst enemy
Posted by The Right Guy in Uncategorized on August 10th, 2010
That’s right guy’s! It is, in fact, my worst enemy… Yes and because of it I did not make a post in two weeks! I have to admit I am not proud of myself…
Procrastination is in my way when I have to clean the dishes, clean my appartement, when I have to clean my clothes, take out the trash, at work…. well I think you get my point…
Most people say: Why don’t you just do it? Well.. That is so easy to say! What is hard is to take the habit of putting deadlines for all your tasks and technology these days make is so easy to procrastinate as there SO many nice things to do on a computer. Hey, the entire internet is at you fingertips! It is so much funnier to go to Youtube than GMail… You also have access to many games on Steam.. and it sit and wait in your sys-tray! Oh I will only play a little game just to realize I just wasted 2 hours to simply do this little “game”. Why don’t I read this good article on my favorite band on Wikipedia? I will surely do the dishes after. Then i will go on LastFM to discover similar bands but I still haven’t done what’s important in my day yet!
Procrastination leads to so many problems in life and this is only the tip of the iceberg on how devastating this can be and I am living proof as many others on this Planet.
Please mister Procrastinate get lost! I want to actually live my life!
Quebecers Rape Cheese!
Posted by The_Right_User in Uncategorized on August 8th, 2010
Okay, okay, the title is a bit misleading; Quebecers don’t actually sexually assault their cheese, but you might hear them say they do. I was rather amused when my brother asked me to rape the cheese the other day. It was obvious that he meant to say “grate” the cheese, but I couldn’t help but laugh all the same. I guess that’s what happens when you’re bilingual: you sometimes mix the two languages up. Raper, the verb to grate in French, has no bad meaning, but, surprisingly enough, other words used to describe certain foods in Quebec are a bit gross. Take my favourite desert for example: les pets de soeurs- which can be translated as, get this, “nun farts.” Believe it or not, I think nun farts are friggin’ delicious- but I wouldn’t ask to eat them outside of Quebec. If you are already well acquainted with our province, you will know that there aren’t really any local Quebecois dishes. We pretty much follow the typical North American diet, except that we have expanded it with our own twist: poutine, which is basically French fries with special cheese and a special brown sauce. The cheese used for poutine is not raped, but rather pooped. “Crottes de fromage,” as the little chunks are called, can be translated as “shit of cheese” or “poop cheese.” -FYI, the best poop cheese comes from Coaticook.- As for the sauce, I am not sure what actually goes into it, but I have heard some pretty bad anecdotes… they might as well call it “sauce à crotte” so it matches the cheese…
